Technology & R&D
Feasibility, novelty, technical differentiation, product roadmaps and commercialisation logic.
I work alongside founders and management teams worldwide to scope, structure and execute complex innovation, R&D, automation and digitalisation initiatives.
I am brought in when a company is making consequential decisions about what technology to build, how an innovation programme should be structured, which capabilities or partners are required, and whether execution is still aligned with the original objective.
My involvement often spans multiple initiatives over years. That continuity gives me enough context to challenge assumptions, connect technical and commercial decisions, and contribute alongside founders and senior management as projects, teams and priorities evolve.

Find specialist technologies, components, R&D partners and vendors across markets.
Identify what to automate, redesign workflows and structure major implementation programmes.
Turn scope, milestones, resources, risks and outcomes into a credible investment case.
Stay involved after kickoff to challenge drift, align stakeholders and keep the project on course.
Connect technical development to validation, adoption, positioning and market outcomes.
Should this project exist?
What exactly needs to be built?
Who and what can deliver it?
How should it be resourced and financed?
Is implementation still on course?
Does the technology become a business outcome?
I do not need to become part of the C-suite to work closely with it. The value comes from remaining close enough to the company's innovation agenda to understand the history behind decisions, the constraints around execution and the trade-offs that are invisible to a one-off external consultant.
Over time, that context compounds. I can work across successive technology initiatives, sometimes for years, while remaining independent enough to challenge the company when needed.
“The useful question is rarely just ‘can we build it?’ It is whether the project is worth building, structured to succeed, and backed by the right capabilities.”
Gerald YapIf the project needs an independent advisor who can connect technical feasibility, commercial logic, funding and execution, I am happy to have a conversation.
